Description
These lovely bags have been created by Dastardly Line in collaboration with the
V&A, using unique fabric left over from the V&A’s very own Textile Conservation Studio. Dastardly Line is a studio in Glasgow that concentrates on turning discarded textile waste into beautiful, ethical, and stylish products. This project provides an attractive and functional way to reduce the textile waste being created by the Museum, which is often unpredictable and hard to utilise, and allows visitors to take away a piece of the V&A home with them to cherish forever.
Created from a mix of textile conservation waste, which is primarily mannequin padding and fabric used to conserve important and historical textiles, giving surplus fabric
from exhibition preparation and object preservation another life. This fabric has been involved in the conservation, preparation, and display of some of the world’s most important textiles, seen by thousands of people in the V&A’s exhibitions.
An authentic and innovative project that values overlooked surplus material. The only new components used in the manufacture of these bags are the thread used for stitching it all together, and the zip.
Made in the UK exclusively for the V&A.
