Description
Traditionally filled with silks, fabrics or clothes, these cabinets would have been given as part of a bride's dowry. This stunning cream version of our wedding cabinet is not typical of the usual colours of black and red found on many antique pieces, but fits beautifully in a modern setting. Like our reproductions, cabinets like this were often decorated with large, circular brass plates on the doors. The plates on these ones are etched with Chinese figures and with the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. The cabinets are made in solid elm wood, and include a wooden hanging rail inside as well as three removable shelves. They can therefore be used as an oriental style wardrobe or for general storage. Two small drawers at the bottom provide additional storage space.
