Natural History Museum x Dunelm
ropical coral reefs are remarkable places. Vitally important ecosystems for underwater life, they offer food and shelter to fishes, molluscs, sea urchins and more. In addition, they help to protect coastlines by reducing the power of the waves hitting beaches, they offer protection from threats such as tsunamis, and they also provide food for millions of people. Coral reefs are packed full of life. From tropical fish and sea turtles to octopuses and sponges, did you know that despite taking up only 1% of the ocean, 25% of all underwater species call the reef home at some point? And yet, these stunning habitats are exposed to a broad range of human impacts on both local and global scales including plastic pollution, overfishing and coastal development. Through our collection with the Natural History Museum, we want to shine a light on these incredible underwater treasure troves and highlight the urgent need to protect them from further decline.
