Description
Shanxi, circa 1860
These stunning chairs, produced in Shanxi province during the late 19th century, are crafted from beautiful walnut wood with a rich patina acquired over years of use. The distinctive style of the later Qing period is evident in the unique scrolling arms and angular design, while the backrests feature elegant floral patterns in relief carving on each of the upper panels. The legs are supported with low, single stretchers and the front stretcher has a simple, curved 'S' shaped design that adds a nice detail. Perfect as a statement set in a hallway or reception room. The chairs are sold as a pair, with the price shown for the two chairs.
