Description
Tables like our black lacquer model were used to hold offerings to ancestors but also for more general decorative items. They were usually placed against a wall in the main reception room with a pair of chairs either side. Simple in design and almost contemporary in looks, this style of table actually dates from China's Ming dynasty, although the rolled scroll design on the feet was more common in later furniture. Our version is slightly smaller than most original Chinese altar tables and is made from solid reclaimed elm wood.
