About this utility room:
Working in collaboration with award-winning interior designers, Wells and Maguire, Searle & Taylor was commissioned to design and make the bespoke cabinetry for this capacious utility room. Handpainted in De Nimes by Farrow & Ball, the 18 sq. metre utility room is designed in a modern Shaker style featuring veneered Oak in frame cabinetry with 30mm thick door and drawer fronts with solid oak dovetailed drawer boxes. To complement, and to provide a natural accent throughout, all open shelving is also solid Oak. Handles and butt hinges are all in solid black steel.

The utility room leads from the kitchen, which is used by a family that loves entertaining. To accommodate the additional appliances required for parties, a zone was created opposite the entrance to house an integrated undercounter wine and beer fridge, both by Neff, with an additional open bottle rack above it. This is next to a large window above a 30mm Lucern Lake quartz countertop with storage drawers beneath. At the centre of this run is a floor-to-ceiling tall double door cabinet housing an integrated full-height frost free freezer by Neff next to a washing machine and tumble dryer in a stacked formation.

To the right of the tall cabinetry is a second window above the sink run that includes an 80mm single bowl white ceramic Butler sink by Abode set within the quartz surface and with an upstand behind it. This ‘dirty sink’ is accompanied by a chrome spray tap by Franke ideal for washing down muddy boots and sports kit. Storage cupboards beneath are for housing cleaning fluids and laundry detergents. Adjacent open shelving faces into the room and is for keeping plants and decorative items.
