Description
The skull-shaped storm glass with beechwood base is perfect for craniomanics and people with a good sense of humour. This contemporary interpretation of the chemical weather glass is a stunning desk sculpture. Nowadays the "FitzRoy's storm barometer" it is more a charming curiosity than an exact weather station. Still, in the 18th century, it was widely employed by sailors to predict the changes in weather conditions. It was especially promoted by Admiral Robert FitzRoy and used during his voyage as a meteorologist with Charles Darwin on the HMS Beagle as a way to forecast oncoming storms. This historical device responds to atmospheric fluctuations. It works indoors and outdoors too. It is best placed on a desk, mantelpiece, shelf or a windowsill.
