Launching this month, Solus Decor UK wants to revolutionise the way Britons view their outside spaces.
Solus founder and owner, Brad Carpenter, explains how American outdoor living trends have been catching on in the UK over the past few years: “One of the most exciting trends in the last number of years in the UK has been to open up the kitchen or reception with extendable bi fold doors to allow the outdoors in and extend your lifestyle out.”
Although fire feature fans in the UK have had limited options in the past couple of years relative to North America; but that is all set to change with the introduction of Solus UK fire pits. Solus Decor collaborate with award-winning garden designer, Jack Dunckley
Prior to the launch of Solus Decor UK, award-winning garden architect, Jack Dunckley, met with Brad and was really taken with his products. He has since decided to incorporate them into some of his landscape designs. “The British are world renowned for their garden design, however the one thing we don’t tend to do is incorporate heat into our gardens, which is surprising considering our climate!” said Jack. “I think they are a great conversation starter, providing atmosphere and warmth and can really add a dimension to a garden.
According to the ASLA (American Association of Landscape Architects), fire pits are the number one design feature sought by clients for outdoor living spaces in America – who knows, in the next few years BALI (British Association of Landscape Architects) might be saying the same!
Solus Decor will be exhibiting at Grand Design Show (April 30 - May 8th) and have been invited to exhibit at the Chelsea Garden Show, in colloaboration with Jack Dunckley (May 24 - 28th). At Chelsea, they will be entering two products into the New Garden Product of the Year 2016.
Jack Dunckley Biography
Jack Dunckley (born 14 February 1993) is a nine time RHS award winning landscape designer who has been winning awards for his designs since 2008, when he was 14 years old. Already a recognised Television personality for his appearances on programmes like BBC Gardener's World and ITV Alan Titchmarsh Show, he has been described by the Royal Horticultural Society as an ‘Investment for the future’. Jack has designed and built award-winning garden designs at major UK shows and events, as well as for private and commercial clients.
Career
Jack owns and runs Jack Dunckley Landscape Design and Jack Dunckley's Garden Nursery in Henfield, West Sussex. The design business launched following the 2008 Malvern Spring Festival, where Jack gained a number of commissions. To date, Jack has won nine RHS awards for his landscape designs. Notably, in 2013 and 2014, he won Silver Gilt awards for his RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Flower Show designs respectively. Jack also exhibits his work at Grand Designs Live in London.
In 2009, Jack and his family purchased Birchfield Nursery, now Jack Dunckley's Garden Nursery, a large six acre nursery with approximately half a million plants and shrubs in over 3,500 different varieties. The Nursery also has a large topiary section and a coffee shop. Jack uses many of the plants from his nursery as part of his exhibition designs and well as in his client's gardens.
Jack gives talks to Horticulture Societies and local groups, and has done so on behalf of The Daily Telegraph. Jack also donates money to local charities such as Chestnut Tree House and St Catherine's Hospice in Sussex.
