Large or small? Colorful or simple? Modular furniture is as diverse as life itself. And at the same time as individual as your own needs. It adapts to any interior design and can accompany its owner for a lifetime - in the original or in a new form. And with modular furniture, anyone can become a furniture designer. But how do you design your perfect sofa? The professional designers at Cubit® have five tips on how best to do this.

Form follows function: What is the purpose of my sofa? That is the first question one should ask when designing a sofa. Why? Because the answer determines the ideal size of the sofa. For example, a depth of 80 centimeters is sufficient for a guest sofa that will be used for sitting most of the time. However, a sofa on which you would like to stretch out should be at least 100 centimeters deep.

Small room, small sofa - large room, large sofa: The effect of a sofa always depends on the size of the room. Armchairs or small sofas with a low backrest are advantageous in small, narrow rooms or under sloped ceilings. Large spaces, however, are suitable for large, spacious sofas.

Using colors in the room: When deciding on a color, one should pay attention to other colors in the room and use them whenever possible. In principle, small sofas or single armchairs look great in bright colors. Large sofas, on the other hand, should be kept as simple as possible. People who love color, can add accents with colored cushions or stools.

The darker the color, the more susceptible It is hard to believe, but it's true: a black sofa is more susceptible to stains than a white one. That’s because the darker the fabric, the more clearly one can see stains, hair and lint. A safer bet is to choose a mottled material. This is helpful because these fabrics change their color depending on which side they are viewed from, and stains can hardly be seen.

Custom means appropriate: For the perfect sofa, personal parameters such as body size or age also play a role. Generally, people with a larger build and those who are older can sit more comfortably when the seat is higher. But keep in mind that a higher seat also means that the whole sofa is higher and therefore larger.
