Paint Colour Trends
Colour can make or break an interiors project, not to mention affect our mood. The current on-trend colours offer a calming and warm ambience which reflect present times, as Adam Brown, Director at The Painted Furniture Company explains.

"Choosing paint colours plays a critical role in any interior scheme, as colour is the first thing your eye notices when you walk into a room", comments Adam. "How different colours play off of one another creates a first impression that affects your perceptions of everything else. As such, picking colour schemes is a lot more important than most people know."

He continues, "The last 18 months have brought more uncertainty than most of us have ever known before, so it’s not surprising that we are turning to our homes as a source of comfort. Many of us have taken on home interiors projects during this time, with the goal being to turn our homes into somewhere that makes us feel restored and nurtured."

With this in mind, it's perhaps not surprising that the current on-trend paint colours are the ones that work in such schemes, and include calming natural greens such as Olive, Fern and Moss. Inviting these biophilic-inspired colours into the home creates a visual connection to nature, which is proven to improve wellbeing, reduce stress and boost the mood.
Green has become a popular choice for the kitchen too as it can make the room feel fresh and airy. Adam comments, “Green is definitely having a moment right now, and works equally well in a modern or classic kitchen. Green is sophisticated and luxurious, and there are many beautiful shades that will stand the test of time.”

Cool grey palettes have given way to more neutral hues such as Almond, Beige and Mushroom which create a slightly cosier, softer feel. These tones are relaxing and easy to live with, working well as a base colour all over the home.

Warm earthy reds and browns are also having something of a revival, replacing the stark, colder navy shades from last year. Adam comments, "These down-to-earth tones are fantastic for creating an inviting, homely space and work really well in a living room when paired with natural accessories such as chunky wool throws, creating a kind of comforting ‘cocooning’ effect. Just add hot chocolate and a woodburner and you’re set for the winter months!"
