Outdoor wall lights give the home a welcoming glow all year round. Add to the front porch, back garden, or by gates and garage doors to transform the outside space. When it comes to choosing the right wall light, Peter Legg, lead designer, där lighting has some advice:
‘When adding a light to the porch, consider it the introduction to your internal scheme if you’re using brass indoors, choose this finish for the front of the home too for synergy, or try a colour that matches your door for an understated look. By selecting a style to enrich your architecture, you can accentuate the character of your home, from the traditional outdoor lanterns with their classic English home look to the ultra-modern compact LED lights that throw dramatic washes of light onto the walls.
Should you be adding lights to the garden, lower-level ambient lighting will create a warm and tranquil environment. To highlight a favourite spot, such as a water feature or tree, light from below or use directional lights to throw light downwards. You can also add visual interest by introducing lights that cast a pattern or highlight textures.’
Contemporary concepts such as the Euba Outdoor Wall Light with Speaker - ideal for garden parties, barbecues and other alfresco events, and the Bohdan 2 Light Outdoor Wall Light, which features two rotating heads for different lighting effects – can both be used in the bathroom as well as outdoors.
