Luxury lighting brand Coldharbour Lights has unveiled its most extravagant feather light shade – introducing The Filomena.

Designed by theatre director turned artisan lighting designer Lottie Davies, The Filomena is Coldharbour Lights’ largest feather light shade and has all the exuberance and impact of a chandelier.

Crafted from hand-dyed cockerel feathers, this flamboyant feather light shade measures a colossal 115cm in diameter.

The Filomena is Lottie’s first foray using cockerel feathers and is a taste of what is to come in Coldharbour Lights’ new Rio Collection.

Lighting designer Lottie said: “The Filomena is a larger-than-life first design for the new Rio Collection and was developed in response to requests for bigger feather lighting features. The longer cockerel tail feathers, with their natural markings, bring a joyful, wild and organic element to our decorative lighting.

“The feathers illuminate and diffuse the light beautifully and will respond to the stirring of the air by a breeze or passer-by. This is decorative soft lighting that is both tactile and responsive."

The Rio Collection is a completely tailored offer, where customers can choose from a selection of exuberant feather shades in a three-way colour mix, choosing from a range of 32 colours. Samples and advice are available on request.

Lottie added: “The Rio Collection brings together a range of exuberant, outsized feather light fittings that are all easy-fit shades. What I adore about this whole collection is that because each design has airy weightlessness as a core quality, they are all, conveniently, easy-fit lampshades that have the impact and volume of a chandelier.”
