Eco paint specialists Victory Colours predict bold colours will reign supreme as we move into the colder months.

Victoria Yardley, Managing Director of Victory Colours, believes purple will replace Classic Blue as the colour we choose to bring positivity into our homes this winter.

She said: “Following the Platinum Jubilee, and the ubiquity of royal purple, plus the Pantone Colour of the Year, Very Peri, we have all been absorbing this beautiful and often overlooked colour for most of 2022.

“But I think that purples, from pale lilacs to dark damsons, and everything in between, will take centre stage in Autumn and Winter 2022, with supporting roles going to pink, teal and warmer neutrals.

“There is a theory that when the economy is doing well, and we are in prosperous times we decorate in subdued, sophisticated colours like greys. However, when times are leaner and more uncertain, the human psyche looks for positivity in its surroundings and we decorate our homes in brighter, bolder, more colourful decor.

“With raging inflation, the war in Ukraine, rising utilities costs and the spectre of COVID lurking in the background, we are living in times of worry and uncertainty and this is starting to reflect on the colour choices in our homes.

“Grey is beginning to look sterile, cold and austere, and we are turning to colour to bring us joy and lift our spirits.”
