2024 is fast approaching and Lisa Cooper, Head of Product at Thomas Sanderson, has identified three key interior trends set to be big next year.

Lisa says:

"NATURAL BALANCE

Balance is all about stabilising a space and using a harmonious arrangement of components to create a relaxing and comfortable environment. From the use of textures, colour and accessories to the positioning of furniture and lighting, finding natural balance in the home will be a big trend in 2024.

A room full of clashing colours can sometimes seem chaotic to the eye, so steer away from colours that are hard to match with other shades. Terracotta accessories are the perfect pop of colour to add warmth to a space, especially when paired with icy blues and greys. Cosy textures can be added through a large shaggy rug on the floor and don’t be afraid to incorporate plants on coffee tables or bookshelves.

Keep curved shapes to a minimum by opting for straight lined patterns, like patchwork or geometric, rather than free flowing shapes. These prints will offer a more sophisticated look and can be softened through gentle colours.

INTO THE FUTURE

With the growing demand to align our homes with our lifestyle, it’s clear that the smart tech era is here to stay.

Smart products such as voice controlled blinds, electric security cameras and home entertainment systems are becoming commonplace in the home rather than being something solely associated with the rich and famous.

Create a futuristic environment by indulging in the smooth transitions of smart lighting and heating which can control the temperature of your home allowing you to wind down in the evenings and wake naturally in the mornings.

Alternatively, smart window furnishings are the perfect solution for hard to reach windows or for additional convenience and peace of mind as we enter this new and innovative era.

PREMIUM BUT PRACTICAL

This trend is all about combining luxury with functionality and creating spaces in your home that both exude a sense of opulence but also cater to the practical needs of modern living.

A neutral palette is a timeless choice which can create a clean and sleek look whilst providing the perfect base for splashes of rich jewel-like colours. Also monochrome never goes out of style, this classic combination of black and white can give your space a sophisticated art deco feel and can be adapted to any room in the home

Showcasing extravagant materials such as marble and granite in your dining area will create a sense of lavishness but are easy to clean and maintain, perfect for a sleek family home

The art of seamlessly merging beauty and practicality can elevate your living area too. Sumptuous soft furnishings like royal blue cushions and faux fur throws not only make your space look visually appealing and inviting but add a layer of comfort and warmth."
