Hallway tile & flooring ideas:

how to create a grand entrance

.

Welcome to the wow factor: enhance your hallways with our Bert and May Crosses Old Iron Porcelain Tiles (£75 per sq m). This striking design can be laid in large crosses, stripes or zig-zag patterns

First impressions are so important – for property as well as people. Family-run, independent online tiles and flooring specialist Hyperion Tiles is here to help you ensure that your home’s entrance looks suitably stylish during the festive season and beyond.

After all, your hallway is the first area that friends and family encounter when they visit. And your hallway flooring in particular sets the tone for the rest of your home.

Our director Richard explains: "Flooring is an important – yet sometimes overlooked – element of any interior design scheme. And the right floor tiles really can make or break the look and feel of your home. Your hall floor is usually the first physical contact anyone has with your property, so it’s vital to make the right choice, both in terms of aesthetics and practicality.”

Here are Richard’s key criteria when considering hallway tile ideas:

1.    Recognise that your hall tiles will need to work hard. Appearance is key – but your hallway flooring must be durable too

2.    Certain materials, such as natural stone and ceramic, are very hard-wearing, but they can feel cold underfoot. If that’s an issue, choose luxury vinyl or terracotta tiles instead

3.    If you have, or are considering underfloor heating, check before you buy whether your hall floor tiles are compatible with it – not all materials are suitable

4.    Trends and tastes change. Colours and patterns are perfect for statement floors, but they aren’t for everyone. If you’re worried your choice will date, opt for neutrals instead

5.    Size matters. Darker floor tiles can make a compact hallway space seem smaller, while lighter colours have the opposite effect
